1. New Jersey Antitrust Lawsuit Against RealPage and Landlords

New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin in April 2025 filed an antitrust lawsuit against RealPage, a property management software company, and ten of the state’s largest landlords, including AvalonBay Communities.

The suit alleges that these entities conspired to inflate residential rents by using RealPage’s revenue management software to share nonpublic data and coordinate pricing strategies, violating federal and state antitrust laws, as well as New Jersey consumer fraud laws.

The state is asking for civil penalties, profit recovery, an injunction, and the appointment of a monitor to stop the practices.

2. Roblox and Discord Sued in Teen Exploitation Lawsuit

A lawsuit filed on April 21, 2025, holds Roblox and Discord responsible for enabling the sexual exploitation of a Florida teenager.

The complaint alleges that a grown man groomed the girl on both sites through chats, harassed her into sending lewd content, and blackmailed her with it.

The lawsuit alleges this is a larger failure by the two sites to protect children from this kind of abuse for financial gain.

3. Judge Delays $2.8 Billion NCAA Settlement Over Roster Limit Issues

The settlement was intended to transform college sports team structures from scholarship caps to roster caps, in which all athletes on the roster would receive financial aid.

But the change resulted in players being cut by schools, making many athletes confused. The judge placed additional weight on making fairness to all the affected athletes before final approval.

4. FTC Sues Uber Over ‘Deceptive’ Subscription Service

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission sued Uber for deceptive business practices over its Uber One subscription service.

The FTC alleges that Uber misled consumers by overstating potential savings and making it too difficult to cancel the $9.99-a-month subscription.

Uber refuted the allegations, stating that its practices are lawful and simple to use.

This is one of a string of antitrust crackdowns targeting large tech companies.
